WRT - Citizen Science Programme

On Monday 29th November, the Westcountry Rivers Trust citizen science programme is running two local training sessions.

North Devon Biosphere is collaborating with the WRT to get more people surveying the river for its quality, presence of wildlife amongst other measures.

The training sessions are taking place on Monday 29th November at:

  • 10am at the Fox and Hounds Hotel, Eggesford. Meet in the bar/lounge area where we can grab a quick coffee and introduce ourselves.

  • 1pm on Torrington Common. Meet on the common and we’ll walk down to the river.

On the day attendees can expect to hear more about the Westcountry Rivers Trust, some of the issues seen in our rivers and the Westcountry CSI scheme. This discussion will be followed by a practical using the CSI kit.

Attendees will need to bring:

  • Appropriate clothing and footwear.

  • A pen and paper if you want to make any notes.

  • A flask if necessary.

We want to support this initiative and so, any members interested in joining, please email to register with Emily Willoughby, Project Coordinator – Pledge for Nature at: emily.willoughby@devon.gov.uk
