Fished from 1.30pm for 2.5hrs. One small fish on a P.T nymph, but saw a few rises when the sun came out so switched to pearly butt emerger - had two more and missed three. Best fish 11".

River looks good but cool wind put paid to any fish rising and very little fly life.
Fished dry fly for an hour with no response, changed for gold head nymph and carried on for another hour and caught two 6" brownies.
First of the season for me.

Of more concern whilst fishing a mink was on the opposite bank and stayed around for 2-3 minutes without any fear

Fished just a couple of hours using klink & dink method but to no avail.
Spotted a mink on the taw at first bend upstream of junction with dart.
Also found hip flask inscribed for a 60th birthday from Lee and Georgia now on bench at hut.

Spent a couple of hours trying the deeper water, caught just the one from Mill Pool. Found a signal crayfish on water’s edge by 5 o’clock pool, reported to EA. Water very clear but lots of algae. Boy do we need some rain.

Fished for a couple of hours this PM, no fish rising, river very low and incredibly clear. Both fish caught on hares ear nymph 1 @ 16 inches from Mill Pool and 1 @ 6inches from riffle below Little Dart. Saw a huge trout jump in the pool above Mill

Hares Ear

Spent an hour trying various drys and nymphs. Settled on a copper head hares ear and bingo 4 in 20 mins all over 9 inches, best well over 12. Fished 11am - 12.30 sun came out game over all caught between Franks and Beginners

No fish rising but managed to tempt 5 on caddis, had to compete with a cormorant for a while. Lost another good sized fish from under the bridge. Water clear and rain doesn’t seem to have made much difference.

I fished the bottom part of beat 6 for an hour this evening. Free rising fish throughout. A quill olive with CDC wing size 15 took all the fish.
