Mayfly emerger brought 4 to the net. Must have hooked at least 10 more and lost them all before getting them in, very strange. Fished 6.30pm-8.30pm

Water looked good but no fly life or rises seen.

All to Adams Irresistible, between 10-11am then went quiet as sun came out. Several mayfly about, water nice height, and colour

Nice fat 10” trout. Some mayfly but little rising activity other than the occasional fish.

Parachute BWO #14. Blustery with heavy downpours. A lot of hatches on the water though. Mid-morning for anhour or so.

Fished for a quick hour at around 1pm. Lots of fly, but not many upwings. Both fish on a size 18 grey duster (midge pattern). Best fish 12". Missed two others.

Bright and warm (17c) some rises water still a bit coloured with sediment.
Fished from 14.30 - 17.00, lost a few as well (ahh barbless hooks)

Very few rising fish, started with parachute Adams but no takers so changed to size 16 olive which proved successful.

Overcast and breezy afternoon (2-5pm). Not much surface activity. Good fly life. 2 lovely 11+" fish on small grey wulf variants. Water a bit turbid after the overnight rain.

Warm afternoon (2-3pm) with reasonable surface activity. Just a quick look to see what was happening. Lots of sediment in the river.

River running very low and clear for the time of year.

Still windy today, but warmer. Few fish rising but no major hatch. Water very clear.

Fished two hours from 2pm bright breezy conditions with quite a few fish rising.

Fished for 2 hours from 11am. First trout on the Taw for me - a toddler (7") but welcome enough, as a first outing new member.

First dry fly action this season. Decent rise for about an hour 2-3pm as the cloud cover increased.

Fished from 1.30pm for 2.5hrs. One small fish on a P.T nymph, but saw a few rises when the sun came out so switched to pearly butt emerger - had two more and missed three. Best fish 11".

River looks good but cool wind put paid to any fish rising and very little fly life.
Fished dry fly for an hour with no response, changed for gold head nymph and carried on for another hour and caught two 6" brownies.

Lovely bright day, water clear but no fly life at all,, no rises and no fish for me but a beautiful day to be out, shame it won't last!

Fished 2pm to 5pm. Only saw three fish surface feeding. Water lovely and clear.

fished 10.00am to 13:00 hours, bright sunshine, tried nymph patterns light & dark. no surface fly life noticed. Did see a kingfisher, a buzzard and an otter, so a lovely session anyway.

Lovely 13” trout. Lots of fly life but very few rises. Water temp 12C. . Saw a decent fish rise and it took the dry fly on the 3rd pass.

River still running slightly too fast but water levels are dropping nicely.
Of more concern whilst fishing a mink was on the opposite bank and stayed around for 2-3 minutes without any fear

Fished just a couple of hours using klink & dink method but to no avail.
Spotted a mink on the taw at first bend upstream of junction with dart.
Also found hip flask inscribed for a 60th birthday from Lee and Georgia now on bench at hut.

Bright sunshine. Lots of flylife. An hours fishing but nothing on dry, wet or nymphs

No fish today river too fast but great to start season on a beautiful day

Water high and fairly fast, no fish but good to be back on the water.

Water fast and coloured, no fish for me today, but great to be out in the sun with rod in hand!

Only 2 fish rising, missed one bite and landed another smallish 6inch trout. Nice to be out on the last day of the season. Also saw two Kingfishers, which made it even better.

Very little fly life. Water clear and around 13C. Two takes but no fish on a Daddy Longlegs.

Some colour in the water but still low, no fish rising. Bank vegetation starting to die back Autumns here!

Spent a couple of hours trying the deeper water, caught just the one from Mill Pool. Found a signal crayfish on water’s edge by 5 o’clock pool, reported to EA. Water very clear but lots of algae. Boy do we need some rain.

Fished for a couple of hours this PM, no fish rising, river very low and incredibly clear. Both fish caught on hares ear nymph 1 @ 16 inches from Mill Pool and 1 @ 6inches from riffle below Little Dart. Saw a huge trout jump in the pool above Mill

Spent an hour trying various drys and nymphs. Settled on a copper head hares ear and bingo 4 in 20 mins all over 9 inches, best well over 12. Fished 11am - 12.30 sun came out game over all caught between Franks and Beginners

With my son Tom. Horribly out of practice and spent the majority of our time trying to tie flies and tippet on ! Amazing hatch at around 8.45pm. Major beaver activity d/s of beginners and 2 watched and videoed by Tom.

No fish rising but managed to tempt 5 on caddis, had to compete with a cormorant for a while. Lost another good sized fish from under the bridge. Water clear and rain doesn’t seem to have made much difference.

Both dippers (fledged young) and kingfishers breeding here.

Tough fishing today, hot & humid few rises but also few takers

Fished 2-4pm. Very little fly life and hardly any fish showing. Caught both small fish on a size 20 dark gnats. Probably took me 45 minutes to tie the flies onto the tippet.

Decided to fish the wild section, river remarkably clear considering it had rained, not much surface activity but fish still about.

Fished a daddy long legs just above the ford. River still pretty high.

Plenty of water, very silver Sea trout spotted taking possibly mayfly at tail of mill pool 18.00 .

14:00 - 17:30. Not much showing, river still up probably a foot but clear in the shallower stretches.

Blankety blanked on my attempt for a sea trout - fished from 11pm-1am and didn't have a single pull or hear a splash. A handful of brownies saved the day while waiting for it to go dark - all on a sherry spinner. Fish rising everywhere at c9.30pm

Fished 1900-2100. Clear water with a few rising fish. Taking sub surface nymphs.

Fished from Beginners to Coldridge Bridge. The odd fish feed but plenty of fly life.

Evening session 19.30-21.30 in high water trying for seatrout/salmon on small tubes. Couple of decent brown trout 12 & 14" but no sign of migratory fish

40 mins after the bank evening 20.15-21.00. Too late for a decent rise but a couple of little fish on dries at the head of pools

Lost large fish in Franks pool, but tough going today no fish rising and stiff wind keeping insects off the surface

Fished for 2 hrs from 2.30 very little surface activity, saw large fish in little dart pool.

water conditions good, not a lot rising or hatching, saw a kingfisher. Arrived back to car with waders dry inside, unlike last time.

Quite cool on the river particularly with the breeze. Lots of insects including mayflies. Not a feeding frenzy but fish feeding quite regularly.

Splendid couple of hours this afternoon, although mostly caught on caddis also had a couple on grey drakes and olives, of the 6 larger fish 4 were over 12 inches

I fished the bottom part of beat 6 for an hour this evening. Free rising fish throughout. A quill olive with CDC wing size 15 took all the fish.

Quick 45 minutes as my 2.5yr old has been bugging me to let him net a fish since watching Gone Fishing. Managed it and missed two others. Few mayfly and olives coming off between 3-4pm.

Fished 2hrs from 11am very little showing so pleased to end up just catching a few, hard work!
